EMDRIA Credit 6.0 hours.

Attendees must have completed an EMDRIA Approved Basic Training in order to receive EMDRIA Credits (continuing education in EMDR)

Program Description:

Adequate resourcing is essential when dealing with dissociative clients. Well-resourced clients move through treatment more safely and comfortably. When the client encounters a resource that works, they see that change is possible. If a clinician only has a few resources, and those don’t work for a client, the client can lose faith in the treatment process. This program will focus on grounding techniques, relaxation exercises, an introduction to mindfulness as well as coping skills to be used in the preparation phase and combined with the desensitization and installation phases of EMDR to maintain dual awareness and client safety.

8:30am-9am Registration

9:00am-12pm Lecture and breakout groups on resourcing and mindfulness.

12pm-1:30pm Lunch

1:30pm-4:45pm Lecture and break out

Educational Objectives:  Participants will:

·      Be able to discuss the difference between relaxing and grounding.

·      Be able to demonstrate the ability lead others through grounding exercises, relaxation exercises, and coping skills.

·      Be able to understand the basic requirements needed before starting phase 3 of EMDR with dissociative populations.

Friday 10/18/2019 from 9:00am-4:45pm at Mars Hill Church (1087 Downtowner Blvd,  Suite A, Mobile, AL 36609).

Led by Regional Coordinator: Steven Booker, LPC

Fee: $25 – Please make checks payable to Steven Booker and mail to the location address above. Fees are non-refundable and due by September 30, 2019

Skill Level: Participants Needs to be in a masters program or above and in a mental health field. Participants will also need to have completed part 1 of EMDR basic training.  While I don’t recommend using EMDR with dissociative clients after only part one of basic training, many of the skills in the workshop will be helpful to a large spectrum of clients. This workshop is not an EMDRIA approved Basic Training.

South Alabama EMDRIA Regional Network maintains responsibility for this program and its content in accordance with EMDRIA requirements.

This workshop is held in facilities which are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please contact the meeting organizer if special accommodations are required.
